BACK <PLAINTEXT> Command next

Command Syntax:

<PLAINTEXT>
  some text or commands to be included as as unformatted or uninterpreted
</PLAINTEXT>

The command renders enclosed text as completely unformatted and in a non-proportionally spaced font, usually Courier New 10 point.  It also halts execution of any included code, which is also simply displayed as normal text.

See also:  <PRE>, <XMP>.

Warning:  The Netscape browser does not recognize the command end tag.  This means that any code placed after the initial <PLAINTEXT> command tag will not be interpreted.  This can halt the loading of a page.

Other browsers may or may not recognize the command end tag.  Use the <XMP> command until browser issues are resolved.

Example:
<PLAINTEXT> This is a block of plain text which is rendered just as typed within the code. </PLAINTEXT>

Yields (simulated) -

This is a block
   of plain text
      which            is        rendered
just as typed

within the code.
